The Cast

Since a lot of my more regular posts will involve my own pets, I thought it fitting to present them here as the official Cast of Characters in The 4 Paws Pet Project.

Pets listed according to seniority.

Season One - Page under construction

Season Two - Photos to follow
Ming-chi, 11y
Our "Alpha Pet," Ming-chi is the Queen of the Household and commands respect from all the younger pets, cats and dogs alike. Despite being the most senior of our pets, she is also still very much a kitten and demands snuggles and her special right to stay in the home office despite the "No pets in the office" rule.

Patches, 11y
Patches is our princess in every possible sense of the word be it positive or negative. She openly disdains the dogs and has a paw ready to smack noses that dare to cross her path. For those concerned, don't worry--she never uses her claws on them.

Phantom of the Opera, 11y
The youngest of Ming-chi's first litter, she was called "Phantom of the Opera" because of her mask...and because I originally thought she was a boy. Oops. Patty is not mine; she actually belongs to my aunt and prefers to think of herself as an only cat.

Cynthia, 11y
Though she is our most senior dog, she usually defers the position to Scotch, our eldest male canine. She was very much a tomboy growing up but the years have mellowed her a great deal and she now spends more of her time either eating or sleeping.

Clarissa, 11y
Cynthia's littermate, she is a perpetual baby despite her age. She was the youngest dog in the family until we adopted Scotch but she has not lost her sense of puppy-ness and still curls up like one whenever she is picked up and placed on a lap.

Prudence, 10y (23 July 2001 - 17 February 2012)
The sole survivor of Ming-chi's second litter, Prudence and her littermates took their names from the then still very popular TV series, Charmed. Although I claim her as my cat, she is actually a bit of a "lone feline" and tends to drift between rooms as she pleases.

She sadly passed on the day after this page was completed.

Kazuhiko, 7y
Once known as the longest-staying cat at the PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center, he is now one of our beloved babies and the respected elder brother of all younger cats and dogs. He babysits all the younger kittens during his breaks from patrolling the perimeter of our property.

Butterscotch Blue, 3y
Scotch is our first adopted baby and the largest of our five dogs. He was rescued along ADB Avenue and had not been at the shelter for very long when we took him in. He is highly intelligent, also a little bit naughty. Despite this, Scotch is an excellent big brother to the little ones and is currently our Pet Mafia Lord.

Baxter Sean Blake, 2y
He was given to us when he was a pup of two months and he has been Scotch's devoted follower ever since. Baxter is a half-Cocker Spaniel who has absolutely no concept of how massive he is and his idea of a good time is usually to romp with the cats.

Kaito, 1y
Our smallest dog Kaito is a purebred Mini Pinscher who, like Baxter, enjoys wrestling with the cats. Whereas Baxter believes himself to be a small dog, Kaito likes to think he's as big as his older canine brothers and has the voice to match it!

Kuro-neko, 1y
Kuro's name confuses most people who see him, particularly those who know that "kuro neko" literally translates to "black cat." His snow white fur wasn't always as pure white as it is now. When he was much younger, he had three little black spots on his forehead. Kuro is our current, most devoted nurse kitty.

Yuki-chi, 1y
Yuki's name confuses people as much as Kuro's does because "yuki" translates to "snow." It has also been pointed out that "Yuki-chi" is incorrect however, her "chi" is actually in homage to her big sister Ming-chi who has accepted her as her official junior and future successor as Queen of the Household.

Mao Tien Lien, 7m
Our youngest pet, Lien is a Persian and Maine Coon crossbreed given to us by a very dear friend. Her primary idol is Kazu but she seems to have realised she is a girl and has started looking to Ming-chi as her second mentor. She spends most of her time wrestling with Kaito and patrolling the house with Kazu.

Haneul and Mihi, 3m
Our foster kittens, Haneul and Mihi were rescued by Scotch. Together, their name translates roughly to "beautiful sky" which describes the December night when they were first found. They'll be staying with us until suitable adopters are found and they have been neutered (Haneul) and spayed (Mihi).
